Ummm... this is a Lars Ivarsson, so if you took the time to even read this far the pipe is most likely halfway across the world, headed to a private collection where it will be kept away from the world for many years. If you do have the means to acquire this masterpiece from pipemaking's finest dynasty, I suggest you do not hesitate for one second. Ivarsson pipes are extremely rare on the estate market, but even more rare is seeing an example is both this good and that is still in pristine, unsmoked condition. Seriously, my heart is starting to race just thinking about it. The shape is incredible- a chubby, Bent Dublin/Calabash hybrid with a proportionately thick shank. There is no one who tackles the rotund aesthetic better than Lars; every piece emerges with an elegance that far out surpasses its girth. I suppose Rubenesque would be an apt descriptor. The blast is incredible- dense rings emanate from a central point on the heel, covering the entire bowl before they explode into a sea of birdseye on the smooth, contrast-stained rim. The touch of plateau here shows artistry and restraint, using an asymmetric element of imperfection to increase the composition's overall harmony and balance. I imagine for many this will be a grail pipe, one that will be talked about long after it has been purchased. I for one, am beyond amazed. WOW!

How To Buy?

You'll see I don't have links to PayPal to buy a pipe or accessories on my site, I don't like the idea of hitting a button and buying a pipe. Call me old fashioned but I want to know who's buying a pipe from me. Here is How to Buy »
