Applesauce Pancakes

This recipe is a family favorite, and I can remember countless Saturday mornings where we would wake up to the smell of cinnamon and applesauce aroma wafting through the house and rush down to the most amazing breakfast ever. I'll just say as amazing as Bisquick is, this is huge leap above and beyond.

Ingredients

  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk Or 1 cup for regular pancakes with no applesauce
  • 2 Tablespoons melted shortening, butter or salad oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

Beat egg. Add remaining ingredients in order as listed. Beat with rotary beater till smooth. Heat griddle. Grease if necessary. Pour batter, turn when puffed and full of bubbles. Makes 10 4” pancakes. Feel free to double, triple or even quadruple this recipe!
